Postdoctoral Scholar (now Assistant Professor at the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology)

Dr. Lior Rubanenko

Assistant Professor, Civil & Environmental Engineering, Technion (2022-present); PhD Geophysics & Space Physics, UCLA, (2020); MS Planetary Science, Weizman Institute of Science, Israel (2015); BS Geophysics & Planetary Sciences, Tel Aviv University, Israel (2012).

Lior is interested in the processes that shape planetary surfaces. His research focuses on understanding how meteoritic impacts, volatiles accumulation, and space weathering affect the morphology of planetary landforms using statistics and physical models. As a member of the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Diviner radiometer team, Lior studies the link between terrain roughness, surface temperature, and the prevalence of volatiles trapped on the Moon.
